Starting in September 2023, publisher and student at the Institute for Group Analysis in the UK, Vincent W.J. van Gerven Oei will start a group, open to immigrants and expats in Albania, to discuss their experiences and lives in Albanian society
In Vincent’s words:
“Do you think about fitting in? This weekly group is open to anyone who considers themself a foreigner, immigrant, or expat in Albania and is willing to sit, listen, reflect, and speak with others in a shared environment on a regular basis.
What does it mean to belong here, in Albania? How does it feel to move to and live in a country that many around us desire to leave? Some of us may have come here by choice, others by necessity, but we all are building our lives here, connecting with others, feeling isolated, or encountering resistance, often, perhaps, at the same time. Talking about these topics in a group can help us work through, learn more about ourselves, and grow.
The group will be conducted in person and start in September 2023, to be held on Wednesday evenings for 90 minutes until summer 2024 (with set breaks and holiday periods). The group will be held in English and is free of charge.
My name is Vincent W.J. van Gerven Oei and I will conduct the group. I moved to Albania in 2010 and have called it my home ever since. I work as a book publisher and am currently in training at the Institute for Group Analysis in the UK.
Those interested may contact me at [email protected]”
Location, confidentiality and other matters will be discussed at the intake stage.
