Call To Civil Society To Work On Disaster Relief App

A local orgnaisation is calling on members of civil society and citizens involved in the aid efforts after the recent earthquake, to come together for the creation of a portal that will ease meeting survivors needs.

The site will link those in need with those providing assistance and will also be able to record damages, evidence, and provide much-needed transparency in the aid distribution process.

The portal will be constructed by ONI shpk in close cooperation with Alternative Pro and it is estimated it will take just 2-3 days to complete.

The goal of this portal is:

  • Registration of families and persons in need
  • Keep evidence of the damages caused by earthquake (material and psychological)
  • Selection of the families by members and categories (age, gender, social status), in order to specify the needs and interventions.
  • Evidence and division of sites affected by earthquake, creating the exact map of the area in need for intervention.
  • Evidence of the shelters and possible capacities.
  • Transparency of the aid distribution (by categories, type, materials and receipt by families)
  • Evidence of needs and reserves in disposition.

The portal, through its database, will interface with different organizations data and will give in real time the information needed.  It may then be possible to create an App in order to facilitate the intervention of the workers engaged on- site as well as to get info in real time from people in need.

It will be developed in several categories with different access referred to the hierarchy of the users. The database will give real time data and graphics about the quantity and quality of products in warehouses as well as its distribution on site.

This portal will receive information by local authorities, central government as well as all the civil society actors involved.

In addition to this, it is possible to create a token, or ID that can be issued to all the people affected by the earthquake. Through this application, they can receive aid from organizations, identify themselves at the state authorities, and benefit from all kinds of interventions and treatment. This will also allow the collection of data such as the exact number of people, their geographical area, and types of interventions.

Those interested in being involved in the discussions regarding this portal, including organisations, civil society, individuals and other volunteers are invited to contact Alket Kashahu before Tuesday 3 December at 5pm. [email protected]
